Reunion Carmen suddenly stood up, revealing her supposed injury to be nothing but a ruse. Clash stopped in her tracks, standing there wide-eyed like a deer caught in a pair of headlights. Terror began rising within the vampire like the tide, threatening to overwhelm the empathic witch. Something within Clash broke. She turned and fled back into the woods, shouting "I'm sorry!" Carmen stood there for a couple of seconds. Then memories of the last time she had stood idly by and watched Clash run away flashed before her eyes. No, not again. She took off on the trail of her now-revealed admirer. Inwardly, she cursed herself for her little act of deception. Trickery of this sort was not her way. But the maddening need to know who had been watching had driven her to desperate measures. She just hoped she could set things right once she caught up with the purple-haired vampire. Maneuvering through the trees and across uneven terrain, she found it rough going.
